One Day I'll Laugh About This

I was making Jenner's Braciola for dinner, when Alice came in the kitchen. She was bent down grabbing herself, announcing "pees". Before I could do anything, she turns around and I notice my worst nightmare! She didn't mean pee, folks!

I got her in the bathroom and set her on the potty. Then I set off in search of her pull-up. I found it. Behind the tv?! I also found a lot of messes in various rooms.

After getting her cleaned up, a new pull-up, and a movie going, I started to clean up these messes. A few minutes later, she comes up to me with no pull-up on (again!). So we sat back on the potty and put on a diaper this time. I know she will probably just take the diaper off too, but at least she doesn't have to "step out" of it.

I'm excited that she is starting to initiate potty training. I'm not thrilled with the prospect of a poop covered house everyday!

I know I'll laugh about this later, but right now I need to go figure out what is smashed raisins (from her snack) and what isn't! FYI, they look the same. Man, I'm going to need a drink tonight!

The Adventures of Alice and Weekend Update

I didn't think that I would be writing of the adventures that Alice got in to for awhile, but apparently that time has come. Beware Internet! I have a feeling the next few years are going to be a bit chaotic with a dash of humor!

I picked Alice up Friday from the sitter's and she had a huge lump between her eyes. Seems Lil Bit thinks she is invincible! She smacked right between her eyes on the coffee table... nice! I kind of figured she would end up with some kind of cut/bruise on her face, as we had plans to go to the Italian Fest Saturday, and everytime we have plans to go somewhere and see people she looks like she got in to a fight with my fist!

So Saturday rolls around. I bought Alice her first swing! We tried it out a few times over the weekend, but I unfortunately do not have pictures. I still can't find my camera. BOO! So next time we swing, I will take pictures on my phone. You'll have to pretend it is the first time she has swung. Okay?

Back to the story... Alice and I headed down to the Italian Fest. By the time I got down there, found a place to park, unloaded the car, and got the baby out of the car the sky was awfully dark and a few raindrops started to fall. So I loaded everyone and everything back in to the car, and sat and waited to see if it would pass. NOPE! So we headed back towards home, and I stopped at a little hole-in-the-wall Italian place, since I wanted Italian. We went home and put in a movie. Alice shared Daddy's rigatoni and my lasagna. She wasn't nuts about the salad, but she loved the garlic bread. Well, a few minutes in to the movie Alice just gets up and walks out of the room. I think I should note that not a light was on in the house, except for a small lamp in our living room and the tv. So I follow her, and find her playing in her room... in the dark. I picked her up and took her back to the living room. Then unfolds THE GAME! You know what game I'm talking about. The one where baby runs off, looking over their shoulder and laughs at you, but keeps running. I find it incredibly odd that she isn't scared of the dark when she is up and playing The Game, but when she wakes in the middle of the night she is afraid of it. Hmm.

Sunday, we played more of The Game. A lot of playing of the game took place. Alice discovered the living room window. Sean was putting in our new air conditioner, and Alice never knew that window existed until then. Also of note on Sunday... Alice can open cabinets that are hard for me to open. I have no idea how she manages this, as I have to have the right leverage to open them. She ended up getting the Comet cleanser while I was in the shower. Lucky for me (and her), I heard unfamiliar noises and immediately jumped out of the shower (suds and all) and grabbed it from her. She did not consume any, thank God! All cleaners are now way out of reach in the locked cabinets.

Alice has also started yanking my glasses off of my face. This irritates me immensely. Over and over and over. Yank, yank, yank. I started "tapping" her hand a bit and saying no. All this managed to do was cause her to smack me. Oh dear... I have a feeling the next few years are going to be rough ones.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I never have quite understood why they say "luck of the Irish" because, in my opinion at least, the Irish are not a very lucky group of people. Though if you think about it from a different stand point, then I suppose they are. They didn't all die out during the potato famine, or get killed off from the Vikings... so I suppose they are lucky in a way.

Which brings about another point. I am part Irish; for sanity-saving reasons on my part, I will not be figuring out what percent exactly. We'll just say 1/4 or 1/8. I also seem to have the "luck of the Irish", as I am not a very lucky person. Ahh, but I am at the same time ;)

Today is Sean's "birthday". Apparently, he is going to change his birthday information on Facebook for every holiday. He didn't have to work this morning, and he asked me what I was going to make him for his "birthday" breakfast. I told him I would give him a cup of coffee and an apple muffin (which I baked the other day). I have things to do people! I typically make him breakfast on the weekends, and usually I make some kind of bread or muffins, for quick grab breakfasts during the week.

I am a busy, working mother. I drive about 150 miles a day; which puts Alice and I in the car for about 3 hours (well she is in the car for about 2). Wednesday is bottle/pump washing day. Then there are the animals (5 hens, 1 rooster, 3 rabbits, 2 cats). Then I have to pack up diaper bags, get everyone cleaned up and dressed, pack my lunch/dinner, somewhere in between all of that I find time to play with Alice, and then pack up the car. Do you know that I have to make 3 trips out to the car before we can leave everyday? I have my bag (which has my lunch, water, snacks, books/magazines, etc.), my pump, the diaper bag, this bag/mat (it folds up to a bag but unfolds to a playmat) with toys in it, then there is Alice and me. I am a pack mule.

Random story: the other day I was thinking about how I needed to take Alice's mobile down, as she has been standing/pulling up for awhile. I thought it was odd that she hadn't tried to play with it or hang on it, so I made a mental note to take it down the next time she wasn't sleeping. Well that next morning, I heard a loud noise and went running in there. There she was, mobile in hand with only half of the bears! She apparently decided she needed more stuffed animals in her crib and grabbed two off...which snapped the mobile in half. That is the last time that I ever think again!

Til next time! Oh and if you have any suggestions for my blog, please let me know. I love feedback and comments. And I promise I will put up some pictures, more info, and get this blog looking snazzy!
