*or I Suck!
My apologies. I have been so swamped with life that I haven't had time to blog. Not even about the really important stuff (Harry's month-aversaries, etc). To make a really long story short, Sean was on vacation, his cousin (whom I thought would be a big help) came to visit for a week, and then my dad fell and dislocated his hip.
So I have been working on getting Alice back into a "normal" sleeping schedule (we're back to 10:30 at the earliest--sigh!). I have also been making daily trips to my father's to bring him dinner and check on him. Having two grown men and two babies to take care of is exhausting. Throw in trying to officially "move in" to my house, that we've been living at for over two years now, and I have literally fallen asleep with stuff still to do (put up dinner--which has to be thrown out the next morning, dry laundry, even lock doors!).
I'm not looking for sympathy. I just need you to understand that I suck. And that I'm sorry! I know the world doesn't revolve around me, and I've missed quite a few of your exciting news. My apologies again. I will be posting in the next week a few "exciting" things--Harry's 5 month birthday, Alice's 2nd birthday, and a few DIY/crafty projects I have been doing! So please don't leave me! I blog because I love it, and also want to have a record of my children's doings. But I also blog because I love YOU, my readers! Miss you guys, and I will be back soon.
I am a very laid-back individual. I wasn't always like that, but through the years I've learned to pick and choose my battles. Perhaps I'm a bit lazy too. Maybe that is why I'm so laid-back ;)

Life Has Gotten In The Way

Catching Up
I've been absent for awhile. Maybe you noticed. It was bound to happen. I could feel it coming on. I just was so "burnt" out that I didn't even have the decency to let all of you lovely Internets know.
It started gradual. Posting every few days instead of daily. Then not posting, but still reading and commenting on your blogs. And then...well I took a hiatus.
I was feeling so overwhelmed and weighed down. I had a to-do list miles long and nothing was getting crossed off. I had hit the peak of the hormone drop (I did the same thing around this time with Alice too). I was just burnt out. I enjoy blogging and keeping up with each one of you. It just got to the point that it felt like more of a "chore" than something I enjoyed. My comments were hardly thoughtful, and were completely generic. I don't like being like that. I like being "me" and writing the things I would say. So I just took a complete break.
I played a lot with the kiddos. I got some things on my to-do list crossed off. I enjoyed the little bit of "me" time that I sometimes can squeeze in, and did whatever I felt like doing. I got some flowers, herbs, and veggies planted. I have mastered the perfect (to me) cranberry almond chicken salad.
So enough about that. Updates. Alice has had a horrible diaper rash/yeast infection for months. Every time she had a dirty diaper it would come back. I'd slather diaper cream and Lotrimin on her and it would clear up. Only to return with the next dirty diaper. So I took her back to the pediatrician (again) and demanded help. I was thinking it was strep. The doctor thought otherwise. So we started using a few different creams. I'm happy (albeit a bit annoyed I was wrong) that her rash/bumps are pretty much cleared up.
HJ is just the sweetest. He smiles and talks to me all of the time. And the giggles? My goodness. My heart explodes EVERY. TIME.
The chicks? Not so chick looking. We Sean put them outside the other day. I can't tell which one Fluffy is anymore. See for yourself how much they have grown in the past two weeks.
Two or three weeks old.
Three or four weeks old!
Four or five weeks old!
It may be hard to tell how much bigger they are because of the angle and zoom differences. Trust me. They are mini chickens now! And yes, I know they were before, but they weren't "chicken" looking.
One of my mom's pugs had puppies almost two weeks ago. Sean wants to get one. I'm struggling with this. I'm torn. I do want a puppy/dog. I just don't know if I want a pug. And if I want one soon. I already have a lot going on around here. I already deal with enough poop and mouths to feed (Alice, HJ, the cat, three rabbits, the chickens, and the chicks). Logically, it doesn't make sense. However, it does when I look at the big picture. I'm at home, so I'd be here to house train. I could house train before I potty train Alice. HJ isn't mobile (yet), so that makes the transition a bit easier. If we wait, then we'd be waiting at least a year or two. And who knows what life will be like then?!
Then the whole pug debate. I want another Staffy. That costs money, and quite a bit. The pug would be free (initially). Are pugs good with kids? That is my biggest priority, of course, followed by the hair. From what I've read, pugs shed heavily. I'm not too keen on that. So if you have any experience or knowledge on pugs, let me have it!
So I'm back! I'm not going to promise daily posts. I'm going to ease back into my groove. I do promise that if I ever need a break, that I will let all you lovely people know.

Struggling
It doesn't help matters that Alice is teething and cranky. Add in a horrible diaper rash, and yeast infection that requires constant changing and slathering on creams. Then I've got a little fuss bucket, whom does not like garlic, and a mommy who forgets those things. I have been up the past two days with a screaming, gassy baby. Poor little guy!
I probably wouldn't feel this overwhelmed if I had some sleep. I swear I get one asleep and the next one is getting up!
I hate Sean's new schedule. He has been leaving around midnight and getting home somewhere between 2-3. He almost immediately goes to sleep, gets up for dinner, and then goes back to sleep until he gets called in (usually around 10-10:30pm). This sucks! Unfortunately, I think this is how life will be for awhile.
And for those wondering, he does help out some. I just worry about him driving and falling asleep, so I try to enable him to get as much sleep as possible (try keeping a Daddy's girl quiet and away-she went in and threw a few of her toys at him today because he wasn't awake to play with her, and I was nursing). I think it is fair to say she is struggling with this new schedule too. Heck, Sean is also!
I have not had time to read (or comment) on many of your blogs. Please don't take it personally. I enjoy keeping up with everyone. I may only get to you every few days, but I'm reading (and lately doing one mass comment for all your posts-tacky, right?). I'm just doing what I can, when I can. So bear with me. I'm struggling with our new schedule here, and it has thrown me the biggest curve ball. This pitcher is good, but I'm determined not to strike out!

I Wanna Talk About Me
Megan asked, "what is your dream occupation? (including SAHM obviously) Where did you and Sean meet?"
I will probably do two separate posts on this down the road, as my answers are pretty long. My dream job changes all of the time. A few things I'd love to do/be (besides SAHM b/c I'm doing that and LOVE it) OB/GYN, math teacher, architect, private investigator, and a chef. The only job I can incorporate most of those things into is SAHM (minus the OB/GYN part, but I use myself as my patient there!).
Sean and I met at a bar/pool hall when I was 24. I had gone out with one of my girlfriends, and she and I were shooting pool. He came over and asked if he could play the winner. That was me! So I then proceeded to whoop up on him ;-) There is more to that story because we only dated about two weeks, and then I didn't see him again for two years, where we picked back up and the rest is history! (stay tuned-I'm sure you're wondering what happened!)
Tasha asked, "What did you do before you had the kids? How old are you?"
I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for here, Tasha ;-) Before I had kids, I would go out A LOT and shoot pool and drink beer! I would sleep a lot. There isn't a lot of that going on these days, but I don't regret that one bit. I worked at a bank doing processing (applying payments, deposits) and I was in charge of the account corrections. Ever get a notice that your account was credited/debited due to error in addition, extra (or missing) items? I did that stuff. Of course, I did this for awhile after Alice was born, until I was severanced in September.
I just turned 30 in December. Sean turned 40 in December. We are 9 years and 360 days apart (roughly-I didn't go back and count those days from that last year. It could be a leap year for all I know).
Carrie asked, "If you go on any vacation with anyone for 5 days - who would you bring and where would you go?"
This is another one that I could write a whole post on. I guess it depends on where I was going because it would change on who I'd take with me.
If I went to Ireland, I'd take my sister and Dad (and Sean). And aside from the obvious sight-seeing, I'd make it a point to hit every pub in the country ;-) We might need more than five days!
Hawaii-I'd take Sean. We'd go surfing, swimming, hiking, and all sorts of other stuff!
Alaska-Sean. We'd go fishing, hiking, and hunt polar bears and moose ;-)
Florida-I'd take the kiddos to Busch Gardens, Disney World, and the beach. Of course, this is the most likely to occur. We'd visit my aunt and stay a few days with her. We'd probably also visit Jen and Dibits on our way there or back (assuming they would want to see us!).
Danifred asked, "Where would you live if you could go anywhere? What was life like for you growing up?"
I think I'd live in North Carolina. It has a little bit of everything. Mountains, beach, and ocean. Of course, I wouldn't mind living in one of those huts in Bora Bora.
Life while growing up (I will do a post on this later) in a nut-shell: I have a twin brother and a younger sister. My dad worked nights for the majority of my youth and I didn't see him much. He had a bad temper and I remember being scared of him. My mom was a SAHM for quite awhile. She was a "good" mom for awhile, and after my Granny passed she completely quit caring. Of course, that didn't happen over night, and had been building for years. So I was forced to grow up at a young age. I was doing everyones laundry and cooking dinner, occasionally, by the time I was 9 or 10. I had to start doing that "regularly" by the age of 13. But I'll expand on that more later.
Is there anything else you would like to know, or for me to expand upon?

OOH, An Award!
So I have been bestowed my first blog award! Apparently, Jenner has been pulled into my mighty charismatic trap and thinks my blog has substance *wink*! Bahaha! So now I am required to share seven things about myself with you. And I won't cheat and use your questions from yesterday.
1. I am not scared of many things. I am scared of mushrooms. The ones you eat. The wild ones outside do not bother me. If a mushroom is in something, on something, or near something I'm eating then I will not eat that food. What if we get a pizza and they are on half, you ask? Nope. Still won't eat any of that pizza! Why, you ask. Because fungus has spores, and those spores have spread onto the other half. Do not try to convince me of anything otherwise. I am set in my way on this!
2. Sean also does not like mushrooms and will not eat them. I knew I would marry him when I found this out! Now I don't have to worry about getting spores from someone who has eaten a mushroom and then kisses me. Phew! Big sigh of relief!!!
3. I love pickles! Sean and I make our own pickles. Well I really make the "juice" and he helps. They are AWESOME!
4. I have a phobia of milk. I have not drank milk (with the occasional exception of Nesquik, which I put way too much on and make it really gritty) since I turned 6. Why? I walked in on my dad nursing on my mom after my sister was born. "He was hungry," they said. My mom asked me about how I can nurse, if I'm so terrified of milk. Breast milk is different. Plus, I don't see it when nursing. The smell of milk makes my stomach turn. I will use it for baking/cooking. And don't ask me the logic behind seeing someone drink breast milk and quit drinking cows milk. I was six!
5. My favorite band of all time is Counting Crows.
6. If I could live at any different period of time, I would choose the sixties/seventies. I would have made an awesome hippie! I'm a "modernized" hippie. Not into all of that "love" crap from back then (whatever floats your boat-I'm happy being monogamous), but I'm all for peace, love, and joy! Plus simplicity!
7. I have never been a big chocolate fan, but I have been dying for anything chocolate/peanut butter! Whoever thought that combo up is a genius!
Now I get to bestow this award on to seven lucky people. In no particular order:
Jen
Lindsay (if she ever does another post! *hint hint*)
Shannon
Lisa
Danifred

Forgive Me
So what has been going on? The other day, I had a genius idea. I need as much quality sleep as possible, and that is hard in our queen size bed with Sean (who is a lot bigger than me) and Alice (whom is way smaller, but moves around just as much as she did in the womb-seriously, this kid would wake me up with her kicks and punches...and that hasn't changed since she is in our bed). No more! I pulled the futon mattress out. I bought new bedding and curtains. I bought a pillow pet and scented oil for her room. The result? Brilliant! She loves her bed. She will go lay down on her own for naps. She watches movies in there (when I put them on). And I have been having a good night sleep for the past 4 days! Why didn't I think of this sooner?
I have some belly pics to share, but I'm on my phone so I can't post them right now. I have my 20 week u/s tomorrow. Though, I think I'm 19 weeks. I have decided not to find out the gender. I want to be surprised. I will have the tech write it down and seal it in an envelope, just in case I change my mind. I may let Sean have a peek, if he swears not to tell a soul...and forget about it immediately. If he slips up, you may see us on the news (crazy pregnant wife strangles husband) ;)
I will make sure to come back in the next day or two. I need to post pictures of Alice's room, belly pics, and new pics of Sprout (which I will get tomorrow!). Yippee! I can't wait to see Sprout again! I have been feeling him/her for awhile, but a lot more in the past few days!
Hope all is well with all of you! Til next time :) xoxo

Want to Know Where I've Been?
To make matters worse, when I am at home I can read your blogs, but if you are on blogger I cannot leave comments. Let alone blog. Apparently, our dial-up (go on, laugh) does not like cookies. So I think I can only comment on my sister or Jen's blog.
We will be getting Hughe's Net in about a month, but until then I will just have to do what I can, when I can. So please forgive me. I'm not too preoccupied with my life to notice yours. I just have little to no internet access. Oh, the horrors!
In the mean time, I will be busy trying to figure out why my last paycheck at work was only for .38 hours. Especially since I was there for 4 hours that last day, and we were guaranteed to get paid our regular hours for those two days. So I got paid for 23 minutes instead of 16 hours. Gee, really nice, huh?

While the Jury Deliberates...
First we have the drive. Oh, the horror! What a long drive. Do you know if I add up how many miles I will end up driving in the next month, that I could have come and visit all of you?! Yes, that is right. If the jury comes back with a good verdict, Alice and I will be hopping in the car and coming to visit each and every one of you.
Then there is the fact that yesterday was Monday. I do NOT like Mondays. Why, you ask? Well, I've never been particularly fond of Monday. Just because it so far away from Friday. Mostly it is because of my current job. I have to go in three hours earlier than I do the rest of the week. Blame the banks being open on Saturday. Stupid federal regulations. So Monday is rough on me and Alice. Perhaps, one day, Monday and I can be friends again.
The day went smoothly. Or as smoothly as a Monday, in which you are short-staffed because your idiotic supervisor wants to be BFFs with all of her employees (except me) and bends over backwards and kisses their behinds and grants all of their requests (seriously, she has NEVER turned down any request for a day off... except mine), can. Fast forward to the evening... things were looking great for getting out of the office a bit early (early is relative here-I'm talking 9pm instead of 9:45). And then, one of the machines messes up. No big deal. I just move over to the other machine and finish running the work. And then, the problem ensues. The server that machine runs off of is down, and needs to be rebooted. Argh! Okay... this will only slow us down about 20 mintues. Twenty minutes later: my supervisor still hasn't even called to get it rebooted! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I'm starting to lose my mind.
So I go downstairs to the vending machine because I need to calm down, and I'm starving. Which as of yesterday, means I get nauseous (yay!). The vending machine is NOT taking money. WHAT? I lose it. I go to the restroom and bawl my eyes out, and rotate dry heaving. After a few minutes, I compose myself enough to go back in to the office. Luckily, my co-worker that knows I'm pregnant had some almonds and gave me some (she told me today that she could tell I was at a critical point!). My stomach feels better. So we wait. And wait. And wait. An hour goes by. I start getting really irritated again. I have at least a two hour drive. I need to leave. I should be almost home by now. And about twenty minutes later (immediately after I announced that I HAD to leave by 10:30 and would not stay any later) my super calls wondering what is going on. Several minutes later she finds out that some one was on call, and thought someone else was in the office. And that the guy on the phone realized he had to do it, but that he had an appointment and could just get there to do it. Huh? Who has an appointment at 10pm? And what appointment would that be? Call girl?
So we get done at 10:27. And I flew out of the building and didn't speak to anyone. I think I just kept looking down, because I LOST it in the car. Major water works.
Sean called at the same time I was leaving. And I told him I was done. I wasn't going back there, yada, yada, yada. So he told me that I could quit, IF I still get 100% of my severance. So I calmed down, was happy, and we all lived happily ever after.
Except, I woke up this morning and thought about a few things. Assuming I can get my severance and quit, I don't think I'd get the 100%. I'd have to take the 75%. Plus, I don't think I'd get my severance at all. I've talked to several people about this (all using hypotheticals of course) and they all tell me I wouldn't get it. Of course, I don't really care what they say. I care what HR says. So that is what I'm waiting on... the jury. But folks, this isn't looking good. I'm pouring over the information I have, and I think I was severely deluded by hormones, hunger, and fatigue. The next few weeks are going to suck.
Unless, of course, I can find someone to help out and watch her or the babysitter lets Alice and I move in with her temporarily (which she really may because they just moved, and she has a TON of unpacking, organizing, and cleaning and she is 8 months pregnant).
I'll let you know what the jury says, but they are still deliberating.

I'm Alive!
I won't even apologize. Though, I am sorry. I have been so swamped with work (at work and home) that I literally haven't had a moment to blog. Sure, I could have written up a post on my cell phone, but I probably would have done that while in the car... and that isn't very safe. Seriously, I haven't really had time to do what I enjoy to do on my lunch break anymore (which is blog, and eat- though I manage to "snack" throughout the day... which is probably a lot healthier anyway).
So a few updates...
Alice turned 11 months old yesterday. I am planning on doing her 10 month (I'm HORRIBLE) and 11 month posts together.
I have 6 weeks and 1 day left of work. I have a little less than 3 weeks to my first prenatal appt (that seems soooo far away when you are wondering if everything is okay, etc. I know you moms know what I mean).
I am so exhausted. I literally nod off when I pump at work. In fact, I am sure I could lay my head down and be out in a few seconds. Why is bedtime so far away? I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Alice is still waking about 3 times a night and seems like she is nursing constantly. That takes a large toll on a body; making milk and all. I'm not surprised that I'm this tired. My body is doing a lot these days (or I hope it still is).
Which brings me to my next thing. I have been feeling really pretty well. Granted, I am only like 5 weeks and a few days, and there is plenty of time for nausea, etc to kick in (and I'm sure I'll kick myself in the rear for complaining about no m/s), but I hate that uneasy feeling before symptoms start appearing. Aside from the fatigue, low milk supply, occasional dizziness, lack of appetite, and incredible thirst I really wouldn't suspect much. Oh, I wish I just knew if I should continue to get excited or not. I really don't want to get my hopes up and then be crushed.
Speaking of low milk supply, I found a tincture from Motherlove called More Milk Two. It is specially for pregnant and lactating mothers. I ordered the 8 oz bottle and I hope I get it SOON.
I'm sure there is a lot more going on, but to be honest my mind is clouded with sleepy, tired thoughts. Who knows what kinds of ramblings you may get in the upcoming days/weeks. I only hope that I keep those of you that read this blog around in the meantime.
Oh, and out of curiosity, what kind of stuff do you want to know about me or my family? Or that you want me to blog about? I know I have been pretty generic with family/baby/work posts, but there is lots more to me/us. If you have any questions or things you want to know more in depth please let me know.

Trying not to get bent out of shape
While I proclaim myself to be laid-back now, I wasn't always so. In fact, it has been quite a journey. I would get thrown in to a tizzy if plans were changed or things didn't go exactly as I had planned. So most of the time, I was high-strung, irritable, crabby, and the list goes on and on. I can only credit Alice for this growth that I have made.
A little background first. I have been at my job (in my current position almost 8 years) for almost 10 years. I work at a bank. I do processing. Basically, when you deposit your checks, make your payments, transfers, etc. I am the person actually doing that transaction. The tellers are the "front-line" people. Technically, I really do the balancing and corrections. Inevitably, customers can't add or get all their checks in their deposits, or have extra checks. Of course, this goes both ways... tellers can't get their work right either; sometimes there is actual cash in the work. Have you ever read your receipt from your bank where it says something along the lines of "Transaction subject to verification by the Bank". Here is where I come in. I make a correction to make the transaction balance. Whether you get money credited or money debited, I am the one doing that at my bank.
Okay, so I get to work today and my manager tells me that our whole severance is being pushed back a month. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal. Great, I get at least 4 more weeks of income, and my severance could potentially be a bit larger. There are a few problems. Granted, not problems of great monstrosity, but they are there. Perhaps mostly just perceived in my still "trying to be laid-back" mind, but in actuality I'm trying not to get bent out of shape. See, I wasn't planning on really staying at my job after I had Alice. I was going to come back for the required 30 work days and then put in a two week notice. I was burnt out. I hated the place most of the time. Sean agreed that I should stay home and work on getting back in school. Well, when I came back they told me then that it was 100% guaranteed that they were closing us down. It was just a matter of when. So I talked to Sean, and we decided that I should stay on until then. I mean, why not? We were only talking about maybe 9-10 months, and then I could get a 30 week severance. Granted, that doesn't last forever, but it would be just fine and dandy to get paid to stay home with my baby.
We were supposed to get our severance package (9 weeks out from the expected end date) tomorrow. However, they pushed that back to next week (June 3). And today, I found out they pushed that back a month. So we are looking at roughly July 7th probably. Figure in 9 weeks... that makes it September 8th (I'm just guessing dates here people). Well that puts a kink in my plans. I wanted to travel with Alice to visit relatives. I wanted to enjoy the summer and go swimming.
Should I also mention that Alice's babysitter is pregnant. Her EDD is September 30 (I believe), but she will be having a repeat c-section at least a week or two earlier than that. Do you see where this is going? If the bank pushes this back anymore I'm going to be out a sitter. What do I do with Alice? I can't very well find someone to watch her with my hours (I am scheduled until 11 pm, but most nights I get off by 9:30pm) and only temporarily at that. And what if I do find someone? Will I have to pay them a lot more than the current sitter because of the time and it is only temporary? ARGH! FREAKING OUT!
Calming down... I know it will all work out. I'm just frustrated. I want to BE.DONE.NOW. NOW, NOW, NOW! At least I am on vacation until Tuesday after I get out of here tonight.

Inquisitive Minds Want to Know
My name is Sarah (duh!). I am 29 and I live in central Indiana. I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. I am funny (at least Alice thinks so-don't tell her otherwise, if you disagree), blunt, laid-back, and a go with the punches kind of girl... though sometimes I throw punches too. I'm actually a lot more than that, but I'm limited on time people!
Sean is my husband. We have been together for over 4 years. I'm not really sure how long we have been "together". We dated for awhile back when I was 24, and broke up after a couple of weeks. I thought about him from time to time, but I moved on and dated other guys. Fast forward two years, and I ran back in to him (at the same place I met him at, none-the-less) and we started hanging out again. I didn't know we were dating. I sincerely thought we were just hanging out and being friends... as I'm stubborn and I refused to "re-date" someone. To make a long story short, I realized we were dating, and we fell in love. We got "married". We eloped. I have never wanted a wedding, and the thought of a bunch of people looking at me sends me in to a panic attack. And who wants to be drunk/doped up on their wedding day? So we eloped.
Alice is my daughter. She is currently 8 1/2 months old. She is the greatest thing ever! Well maybe Sean *wink* If you haven't already noticed, I write about her a lot. She does take up most of my "free" time, but soon will take up all of my time when I become a SAHM at the end of summer (more on that later).
More about me... I love to cook. I also love to bake, but I prefer to cook. Mostly because if I baked every day, then I'd be the size of a barn. Though to be honest, I'm getting close! I will go on a diet after I wean Alice... until then, I will consume as many Peanut Butter M&M's and Reese Peanut Butter Cups as I please (please feel free to send me pounds! wait...don't!). I also love to garden. I love to read. I don't get much time for that, but I have ambitious plans to read a few books this summer. I enjoy cross-stitching (again, little time for it).
I have really ambitious plans to learn to sew and make headbands. I would like to eventually be able to sell them on Etsy or something. I am interested in going "more green" and have started making some of my own cleaning products. I may start cloth-diapering in a couple of months... actually I have pretty much decided to cloth diaper, so there is no maybe. Just a when.
Well, that is me in a nut-shell, more or less. There is always more, but I have less time. As always, if you ever have a question for me, feel free to ask. There isn't much I won't answer!

Spring Cleaning
Though, to be quite honest, I have a list of spring cleaning that needs to be done at home. I haven't crossed anything off the list yet... I keep waiting for enough time to actually complete a whole room. Which won't happen, so I may as well suck it up and start from the ceilings and work my way down, room-by-room, and task by task. I figure my house will be entirely "spring" cleaned by November!
Back to the whole blog thing... As you may have noticed (or not) I changed the title of my blog. I feel this is probably a better fitting title (Lindsay, thoughts?). I do reserve the right to change my mind again down the road (or tomorrow).
My next post, I will delve in to who I am exactly. And maybe if you are lucky, I may post a picture. I swear I have a face... the problem is, I am usually taking pictures of a cute little baby, and not myself. Not that you are missing out on much. I hardly ever "fix myself up" anymore. Who has time for that?
